The role of
teaching assessment in teaching and learning
New teacher
assessment allows supervisors to review and critique your work so that when you
are evaluated on your profession, you are able to see where you are in the teaching
progress, where you need to progress, and what you really need to work on.
Student
assessment is similar to teacher assessment because it is also an evaluation of
work done by students and demonstrates where students are succeeding and where
they need improvement.
Student self
assessment gives students a role in the lesson and gets them more involved in
the work. This strategy helps motivate and initiate students drive for
learning.
Reflection
is a good way for students to recap what they’ve learned in the lesson and also
give themselves an evaluation of where they are in the unit and what they need
to work on. Reflections are great ways for students to express how they feel
and what they have learned about the lesson.
Pre- assessment
surveys give students the opportunity to express where they are in the process
of learning and express how strongly they feel about a topic of a strategy they
may have to use in an upcoming larger assignment.
